What’s the Best Plan for Vein Therapy in Houston?
November 29, 2020
Vein Treatment Clinic provides personalized vein therapy in Houston, TX.
Vein Treatment Clinic is a state-of-the-art vein center in Houston, TX, known for personalized and minimally invasive varicose vein treatments. Most vein centers and vein doctors follow a cookie-cutter template for vein treatments, which often leads to more side effects, more complications, and a higher risk of vein disease recurrence. However, our vein doctors personalize each varicose vein treatment plan according to your unique conditions, ensuring far better results.
Our careful approach to vein therapy in Houston allows us to maintain a perfect track record, as evidenced by our 5-star ratings and reviews from patients. One of our recent reviews reads, “My father came here for the vein treatments and wasn’t disappointed. I was talked to with compassion and professionalism from beginning to end. Happy to recommend this treatment center for your varicose vein treatments because they are compassionate and in tune with their patients’ concerns and have no problem addressing them, alongside any questions you may have.”
That review accurately captures what sets VTC Houston apart from all other vein centers and vein doctors. We actually care about our patients and patiently investigate the root cause of your vein conditions. The following is a detailed overview of our varicose vein treatment process, from the initial diagnosis to the recovery process.
Step 1: Examine the spider veins, varicose veins, and other symptoms of vein disease.
Most vein-related problems are caused by underlying venous insufficiency, a medical condition wherein the weakening of your vein valves leads to blood accumulation in your leg veins. The continued accumulation of blood in your veins leads to vein dilation, resulting in spider veins, varicose veins, and other vein conditions. As such, the first step in the varicose vein treatment process is to examine your leg veins and look for the signs and symptoms of venous insufficiencies, such as spider veins, varicose veins, throbbing leg veins, restless leg syndrome, leg heaviness, frequent leg cramps, etc.
Step 2: Diagnose the underlying vein diseases using vascular imaging tests.
After the initial inspection, the vein doctor will use vascular imaging tests to diagnose the underlying venous insufficiency. We use Duplex Ultrasound to visualize the blood flow in your leg veins, projecting the image on a computer screen to examine the direction of blood flow. If your blood is flowing backward or pooling in your leg veins, we know you’re suffering from chronic venous insufficiency. The vascular imaging test also helps us identify where the saphenous veins are located.
Step 3: Curate the ideal varicose vein treatment plan based on the diagnosis and insurance coverage.
After the leg vein inspection and diagnosis, the vein doctor curates the ideal varicose vein treatment plan. If you have underlying venous insufficiency, the vein doctor may recommend radiofrequency ablation, endovenous laser ablation, or VenaSeal, followed by sclerotherapy spider vein treatment. If you only have spider veins, the vein doctor will only include sclerotherapy in your treatment plan. The vein doctor will further customize the treatment plan based on your insurance plans, cosmetic goals, and other concerns.

Step 4: Minimally invasive varicose vein treatments, including endovenous laser and radiofrequency ablation.
Radiofrequency ablation, endovenous laser ablation, and VenaSeal are the best minimally invasive varicose vein treatments for patients with underlying vein disease. During these procedures, the vein doctor creates an incision on the skin’s surface to insert a catheter under ultrasound guidance. The catheter delivers thermal energy or laser energy to collapse the diseased saphenous vein, restoring smooth blood circulation to the heart.
However, the VenaSeal procedure doesn’t even include an incision — the vein doctor injects a medical-grade adhesive into the diseased vein using a small syringe to fuse the vein’s walls. The diseased vein hardens and gets absorbed by the body, rerouting the accumulated blood to healthier veins. Regardless of the process and methodology, all of these minimally invasive vein treatments have the same goal — remove the diseased saphenous vein to restore smooth blood circulation.
Step 5: Include sclerotherapy in the minimally invasive vein treatment plan.
The primary varicose vein treatments address the underlying venous insufficiency, but they don’t automatically remove the superficial varicose veins and spider veins. That’s why vein doctors must include sclerotherapy in the minimally invasive vein treatment plan. During sclerotherapy, the vein doctor injects a special medication into the spider veins to fuse their vein walls. The spider veins harden into scar tissues that eventually get absorbed by the body and fade away from the skin’s surface.
Step 6: Discuss the post-treatment recovery process and aftercare.
The minimally invasive varicose vein treatment process concludes within an hour, and that includes everything — initial consultation, diagnosis, varicose vein treatment, etc. You may experience mild soreness and bruising for a few days, but the discomfort won’t be strong enough to keep you from work. Most patients resume their work and daily activities immediately after the vein treatment. Our vein doctor will discuss your recovery process after the treatment — you may have to wear compression stockings for a few weeks and avoid strenuous workouts for a few days. However, most people have a perfectly smooth and painless post-treatment experience.
